The Tenggerese Society
The Tenggerese are an ethnic group inhabiting the highlands of East Java’s Tengger mountain range.They live almost entirely from the cultivation of crops and embrace the Hindu religion. According to the East Java Parisada the Hindu Darma,the religion of the Tenggerese is Mahayana Buddhism.The Tenggerese have no temples,but instead have Punden Poten or Danyang,areas of sacread ground.The annual Yadnya Kasada,a holy ceremony held at the creater and sand sea of Mount Bromo is a holy festival of thanksgiving and time for the inauguration of priests.

On the 14 day of the Month Kasada,the inhabitants of the Tengger mountain range gather at the rim of Mount Bromo’s active crater to present annual offerings of rice,fruits ,vegetables ,flowers, livestock and others local products to the God of Mountain.

As adherents of religions combining elements of Hinduism and Mahayana Buddhism.The tenggerese ask for blessings from the supreme God,Hyang Widi Wasa.The Kasada ceremony opens with the inauguration of honored members of Tenggerese society followed by a classical ballet performance.
The story recounts the legend of Roro Anteng and Jaka Seger is performed at the open theater in the village of Ngadisari.
Singasari Temple
Nearby ,approximately 10 km north of Malang and 700 meters from the main road. Singasari is an archeological site where remnants of the early 13th century can be found.This temple was built in 1304 AD as a memorial to king Kertanegara ,the last king of The Singasari Kingdom.

A natural wonder that can be reached from Bondowoso ,has a width of 5.466 acres and is at an elevation of 2.396 m above sea level.As result ,during dry season,from April through October,the temperature drops to a range from 2-18 C.In the craters recesses,sulfurmining can be witnessed.
